Housing price grew by 5.4% in April
www.chinanews.cn 2007-05-28 17:53:05
Chinanews, Beijing, May 28 C Chinas efforts to control housing price
in real estate market have begun to take effect. The State Development
and Reform Commission and the National Statistics Bureau on Friday issued
a set of information, which showed that in April, the housing sales price
in 70 medium and large cities across China grew by 5.4% compared with the
same period last year. The growth rate dropped by 0.5 percentage point.
Housing price now is growing less sharply than before, which is something
that the central government is glad to see. April also became a month
when housing price grew with the smallest range. An earlier report showed
that during the first quarter of this year, the growth rate of housing
price was 0.3 percentage point more than the previous season.
Although the growth rate of housing price has started to decline, it
should be noted that on the whole, the housing price is still in a rising
trend. In large cities, such as Shenzhen and Beijing, housing price grows
at an even faster speed than other cities.
In April, the housing price for new houses in Shenzhen and Beijing grew
by 11.3% and 10.7% respectively, far above the 5.3% average price growth
for new houses across the country. In Shanghai, the price of new houses
grew slightly, by 0.3 percentage point.
In April, the price of used houses grew by 6.1%, which was 0.2 percentage
point higher than the housing price growth rate of the previous month. In
Shenzhen and Beijing, the price of used houses grew by 12% and 9%,
respectively
Two years ago, some people began to predict that Chinese housing price
would start to fall. However, faced with the booming urbanization process
in China, many experts now think that housing price will continue to
climb for another 20-30 years before it will start to drop.
